cycling tanks is way over rated. if you need to cycle a tank then your not changing enough water imo. never have and never will cycle a tank. i just change 50% 2 times and 20% 1 time a week and a never had any problems.

If ur always buying and selling fish i can see this but long term this is a horrible idea, do you know what BB is?? You only get both kinds threw cycling.

I assume since u dont cycle u dont test either......

nope not buying and selling fish all the time and my fish are all very very healthy and my water tests out just fine and of course i know what bb is. if you need to test the water your obviously not comfortable with the amount of water your changing imo. ive never had a fish die from a new tank or water conditions outside of my first month on fishkeeping which was a good learning experience. doesnt putting fish in a new tank eventually create enough bb to call a tank cycled. in that time i perform more wc than usual to combat any ill effects and my tanks are not heavily stocked to begin with

Fish dont supply bb, fish supply ammonia and if ur tanks not cycled then it will NOT convert ammonnia to nitrite and nitrite to nitrate. I test my water to know when my bio load capacity is reached, and at anytime ur bb can crash, and if u dont test u dont know untill some fish are killed off, i just prefer knowing all of the given variables just in case something goes south!!!

I used to not test either awhile back but trust me when i say its important, and there is NO point in changing water if ur nitrates are low! Thats the difference between knowing and not!

More effort vs less effort

Stability works, and can be a life saver if for whatever reason ones bio filtration crashes.
Dr. Tim has been in the aquatic industry for many years, and I believe was one of the creators of Bio-Spira, so I'm sure his product works as well.

Unless you are using established seeded bio-media on a new tank, all new tanks go through the cycle process. Bio-bacteria doesn't just magically appear in massive numbers & convert all of the free ammonia to nitrite, and nitrite to nitrate. In a new system they take time to become established and build up in quantity.

The toxicity of free ammonia is highly dependent on both temperature, and pH, so this can also vary GREATLY from one hobbyists tank to another.

A good read on the toxicity of ammonia can be found in the following article posted on the krib.

http://www.thekrib.com/Chemistry/ammonia-toxicity.html

The fact that a fish doesn't die does not necessarily mean that it hasn't been negatively affected by free ammonia.

Short of having enough seeded bio-media to start up a new tank, some of these bacteria in a bottle products are IMO the fastest & safest way to kick start a new set up.

I have used stability to cycle my tank and it seemed to work pretty darn good. If I have to cycle another tank again I'd definitely use it again.
