Seahorses

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There are a few brackish seahorses and some FW pipefish, main problem in keeping them isthat they need a constant supply of tiny, high nutrition food like daphnia or copods. They (like marine mandarin gobies) are constant foragers and require several feedings a day unless you keep enough live food available round the clock. They also tend to be fairly short lived, 2-3 years.

ive kept my seahorses for 2 years
and im only 14
and my lfs cant keep them alive to a mounth
i dont know anyone that has kept them as long as i have
they werent even tank bred
sorry if im bragging lol
but they both died in one day heres the story...
one day i slept over my friends house the next day we were going to the shed aquarium and another fishstore downtown which was the craziest fish store ive ever been to
anyways
i came home to get dressed and stuff
when i see my male seahorse stuck in live rock tail fisrts he was dead
i think it was a gorilla crab it was very very strange
in the process i knocked my filter head of not knowing
when i got home at about 10 at night
i found my female seahorse stuck in the filter
thats my story
sorry for ruining your thread with my life story man

I wish such a fascinating fish was not so difficult to keep.

then anyone could keep it and it would lose the charm of keeping one and saying "look at me, i can keep a difficult fish happy and alive!"
