i just bought a used 90g acrlyic tank w/ a center overflow. it has one hole drilled on the bottom.

what's the best way to seal this? i'm going to filter it w/ a canister and not a sump so no need for the hole.

thanks.

bulkhead with a capped off pipe

i was thinking of that but the stand i plan on putting it on, doesn't have a hole to accomodate the excess bulkhead.

other ideas?

can it be patched with a piece of acrylic and weld-on 16?

use a piece of acrylic a bit larger than the hole and glue it down on the inside with acrylic bonding cement, which melts the acrylic piece to the tank. it's a permanent fix. i filled multiple bulkhead holes a dozen years ago and they are still tight.

can you give me the brand of acrylic cement you used. this sounds promising :)

and do you recommend using an acrylic piece as thick as the tanks?

cut a hole in the stand. use it as a drain for water changes.

Seems like it would be a lot easier to me. Easier to sell the tank too if you ever do, since it won't have a DIY fix.
