securing canister output to tank?

actually I do. I have some redhooks in the tank that could jump. I am going to cut the plastic back trim of the glass top to fit so as to cover as much of the tank as possible..right now I dont have the trim on the top as you can see..
i am looking to fabricate a lighting hood that will also act as a canopy with special cutouts for filters and such. not the usuall basic canopies cause i dont like having to take the whole thing off to get to the tank real good. think 15" upside down V shape with 10" high doors on the front on a 120 gallon planted Arowana and Datnoid tank. Man i love to dream.
Oh, you already solved the problem.
What I did was I took one of those clamps that hold reptile heat lamps to the tanks and I just clamped the tube to the side of the tank, and then I took the glass cover and pushed it hard against the tube to sort of hold it in place.

yeah, the key is to hold it in place so that a big monster fish cannot knock it out.
because trust me, monster sized fish are VERY powerful when they smash into something at 30 mph. suction cups won't do anything..
