http://www.youtube.com/v/oOZF4vTAF2M&hl=en&fs=1Music video featuring a special free-flying Bald Eagle named 'Challenger' (in honor of the lost space shuttle crew) cared for by the non-profit American Eagle Foundation (AEF).

He's a 'human-socialized' bird accidentally raised by the people who rescued him - after being blown from a wild Louisiana nest in a storm as a baby in the late 1980s. Declared 'non-releasable' by federal and state wildlife authorities, he was trained bythe AEF to perform educational free-flight demonstrations at high profile public events.

He's the first Bald Eagle in U.S. History that learned to free-fly into stadiums, arenas and ballrooms during the singing of the Star Spangled Banner. The celebrity eagle has appeared at numerous major sporting events like the World Series, Pro-Bowl, All-Star game, BCS National Championship, Fiesta Bowl, Men's Final Four, etc.

Challenger has also flown before 4
U.S. Presi dents!

His life story is told in a children's storybook titled 'Challenger, America 's Favorite Eagle.'

I am sure they can be quite the predator.... probably have to watch your cats and small dogs etc..

It makes our day when we spot a bald eagle at the lake. Two summers ago, we discovered a bald eagle nest and got to watch it for a few weeks. It's very hard to get telephoto pics when you're on a rocking/pitching boat.

The eagles were at their nest again this past summer. The females are bigger than the males. They mate for life and keep adding to their nests which can get very large. Whenever we see a bald eagle, I think, "today is going to be a good day"

It takes a few years before they mature and get that distinctive white head and tail

As much as I love them, sometimes they annoy me. We have seen osprey dive into the water and catch fish. They struggle hard to get airborne again, holding their wiggling prey. We've seen them finally get flying again, only to have a bald eagle come swooping out of nowhere and chase them until they drop their catch. As majestic and beautiful as they are, they certainly are the bullies at the lake.
