Seeking advice on a Canister, narrowed the field down...

OK, thanks for everyones help on this, I decided to go with a 2250. I was curious about the media, the container holds 12L, is there alternative products to the Ehfifix that you use? How do you set yours up? Is the Ehfisubstrat Pro better then the standard? I see they have the same amount of surface area.....

All will self prime. No worries about leaking for the most part (assuming you get a reputable brand).

Eheim is the best according to most opinions, but several brands are just fine too. It really comes down to what level of dependability you are looking for. Also, there are other questions to answer: noise level, ease of use (priming, etc.), ease of maintenance, etc. For all those reasons I use Eheim exclusively now (that is, wherever I'm not using a wet/dry). Eheim is a fine example of German engineering, but you pay for it.

Are all the Eheims particually the newer models engineered and/or still built in Germany? I thought the family sold the company a few years ago?

FYI this will be on a bare bottom 125G tank, with a moderate/heavy stocking level 6 mid sized cichlids....

Thx in advance....

I'd run 3L of ehfimech, and 6 of ehfisubstrat pro, and then pads. The Pro is round, allowing better water flow, and less clogging.

Several products from the eheim line have been made elsewhere.
