Less than a month away from the anniversary of his death. Seems like the media has forgotten about him and what he's done for the environment, who even tried to bash him towards his final years. He was, and will always be my hero. I'm sure he holds a special place in almost everyones hearts here, and always will. Jacques Cousteau was his inspiration, along with steve's father, and it seems like Jacques also hasnt been remembered as much as he deserves, especially in the last few years. They're both inspirations for our hobby and everything it, and we, should represent. Steve gave me inspiration for what I do with my life now, and will continue to do so, even in his passing.

I feel ya man, but what are you expecting? A month long celebration?? I'm guessing there will be a news blip about it on the anniversary, but you really expecting something a month beforehand??

It just seems people have put him aside and what he's done for conservation. He was a trailblazer for conservation for a generation of people. His ambition and love fueled the passion of many. Just think he needs to be remembered and brought up. Doesn't matter what month it is.

I understand what you mean, in Australia there is a park named after him. And for a while there his daughter (Bimbi?) Carried the torch, But for whatever reason her show was short lived. I guess she didn't wrestle enough gators. My fondest memory of Steve was when he cried like a baby over a old croc dying. I remember thinking to myself "that is one ugly animal and here this Guy is bawling his eyes out."it takes a special soul to see the beauty in those animals and yet be so passionate about it.

Coustea wasnt really an advocate for our hobby. He hated zoos and aquariums and any collecting for the pet trade. He thought people should just see sea life on TV. Well not everyone has connections for millions of dollars to go on expeditions on the calaypso. Some can only enjoy the water world through a ten gallon tank.
