Well thats the problem... When he was first in the tank he went down like the whole time. but i dont kno if he can now he got under the filter and it pushed him down but he floated back up. He eats like crazy. the only things weird are he floats alot and he has a red mark on his side wich is blood. but hes not bleeding.

water chem? whats it been eating? does it look bloated? can you get a pic?

I know what you mean. After i got my first 2 senegals I was hooked. I fed mine frozen blood worms and sinking carnivore pellets. I recently ran out of sinking carnivore pellets and i tried some soaked large hikari gold and they immediantly started eating that. So, since then i've been feeding them gold 2 times and day w/ 1 meal of frozen bloodworms. They also get a treat of live black worms if my discus pair doesn't eat all of theirs. I hope your sen is ok, but I'm sure beblondie could help you. She is the most knowledgable person about bichirs i know. :D

HE ate a cut up pellet that was very tiny. he is a great fish i did a water change and cleaned my filter. he was getting picked on so i moved some other fish out of that tank. he is AWSOME im glad i picked him up i like bichers now..

IF you like your bicher you should try a rope fish. I love em, but don't forget they are escape artist

They're pretty hardy. Clean water, of course, but they're not too picky about pH or hardness. When mine was 2-1/2 or 3", he ate 3mm pellets. They'll eat bloodworms, earthworms. If you try 3mm pellets, I'd recommend HBH SuperSoft first, they can break them up a bit. I tried it when I was trying to get my knife to eat pellets, it was the only prepared food he'd eat initially. Bichirs don't seem to be as picky, but the texture is right in case it's a little too big for him.

Beef heart is a good choice... IME beef heart really boost my little bichir's size...

whats water chem? if u mean temp its at 82-84. he has been eating chopped up cichlid pellets and chopped up cichlid sticks and he went after flakes today for some reason...:screwy: i dont really kno what bloated is but hes not fat. and a pic would be kinda hard to get. he is 2" and the red mark is 3-5mm across he looks much better today. he eats like crazy. he is swimming on the top still but a day after i got him he just sat there.I think he will be fine.:)
