i got a 10ft by 4ft seine net i may be retarded but i dont know how to set it up or use it so help plese?

o i think a cast net will be better but good thing my best friend will want to do that cause he REALLY wants a softshell since i found one hah

Make sure you check you laws on seine net sizes, here in pa that would be a way to big, in this state you could only have a 4x4 net, with one thats 10 feet you could wipe out a whole stream.

If its just the net get two, two by two's cut at 4 and a half foot. Wrap them on each side of the net so it looks similar to a volleyball net. then however big the creek is your siening make it just slightly in the bank by wraping or unwraping the wood. You and soemone else walk behind the net poking the bottom with the wood sides but make sure to keep it tight. Walk a ways then scoop the net up and back simultaneously you should have quite a few didfferent things if done right.
A buddy and I did this and with in forty minutes had a five gallon bucket of crawdads and it was full. Which him and his dad used fishing and selling to bait shop. Good luck.

so in a creek keep it still or walk with it and how do they stay there do they just do?

Ok, I know about seines, I've used them from 300 feet to 4 feet and they all work basically the same. First you need two poles, round rod dowels are the best. Shave them to a dull point on one end. Attach the lead line of the seine to the pointed end within three inches or so of the point with the seine as close to the pole as possible. The best way is to drill a hole in the pole and push the seine lead line through the hole. Pull it tight against the lead line of the seine and tie a large knot in the line on the outside of the pole so it can't pull back though. Drill a hole a little higher than the seine is tall at the upper part of the pole. (for a four foot seine I would use at least a six or seven foot pole) Leave about 12" free line at the top between the net and the pole as you push the float line through the hole and tie a knot like you did at the bottom. Repeat for the other side.

You will need two people to work a seine this long effectively. You can use in a riffle type environment by planting the seine across the riffles and kicking stone and other thing loose up stream from the seine as work toward the seine. As you get to the seine the two people working the seine need to lift it to capture the fish. You can also work the seine down stream walking quickly making sure you keep the lead line on the bottom as much as possible. fish will run under the line if they can. You can also walk the seine up to the edge of the bank from the stream middle and poke the back with the poles to run fish from under the bank into the net wish you then rise to net the fish.

It will take some practice to find out what works best in your stream and local but it shouldn't take to long before you are able to catch lots of fish of various sizes and species with this net. It would be a good idea to have a fishing license and make sure the net is legal.

i dont need a license im 14 and in missouri you can take any baitfish or non-game fish which no one checks where i go so it does not really matter what i take i can just take a rod and reel and say i caught it on that and the max size seine you can use is 20ftx4ft and it has to have 1/2 inche of smaller holes. i have a missouri fishing regulation book right next to me.
