So there is rolls of Vinyl flooring for very cheep locally, what about using this apposed to using a pond liner? cut to size, then silicon the corners?

5 dollar vinyl sheet vs 50 dollars liner...plus you could get a cool design if you wanted to pay a little extra...

I would assume this would also work with the 11inch by 11inch peal 'n' stick tiles so long as you sealed between the cracks with sealant... or am I crazy? :screwy:

The idea of creating the hull of a space craft out of gold foil seemed crazy too, but it worked in the 60's.

I say, try it on a small scale, maybe something you could toss together out of a half sheet of plywood or something. Fill it and let it sit in your garage near a floor drain for a couple of months and see what happens. If it holds, leave that one set up sitting somewhere near a floor drain and go large-scale. If the small one ever starts leaking, you know you have a couple of weeks until the big one does.

The only 2 issuse I see is adhesion problems with the silicon and humidity causing the compound to stop adhering to the wood...however it would actually be the silicon and water pressure that would keep it in place.

I'll try the protocol kallmond suggested, if it works i'll upload a photo or two.

Make sure the test tank is the same depth as the real tank you want. The difference in water pressure could make a world of difference.
