I've been putting a lot of thought into how I could add variety into the diet of our stingrays, and an idea keeps creeping into my head. Is there a way to house some sort of food source with the stingrays (snails, neon tetras, etc) that will continue to replicate and provide nutrient supplement and stimulation for the rays? Is there anything that reproduces fast enough to keep up with the rate of consumption in the same tank? Would some sort of safe haven (decorations or something) help sustain the cycle?

Whatever I put in there I know I will have to feed, so preferably something that eats black worms. Has anyone tried this before?

cherry shrimp breed like mad so do guppies

I think firemedic has as close to a selfsubstaining system as I've seen on here and if I can remember right I stll thinks he has to add food.

I still plan on adding food (feeding them with Ash is, in fact, my favorite part of the day); I just want to help improve the variety of their diet (as well as freshness) and add a bit of extra stimulation to their environment.

neon tetra!? thats a joke right? Those things are harder to breed than oscars.
Self sustaining food source is a great subject to pursue, but in the tank itself is probably way harder to do than in a separate tank/pond/container.

Not sure if this was in response to my post or not but my project does not involve neon tetras.
