Haha I love the enthusiasm of a newly addicted fish keeper. Keep browsing this site and you will never have enough/big enough tanks.

He's absolutely right there! That's why I ended up with a 180g but I believe I'm stopping there. Unless we decide we want to have a pond one day. Then, all bets will be off and I'll get a redtail catfish finally. :nilly:

When I got into the hobby my wife did not see a need for a second tank, she thought the main tank was all that was needed. After an illness or bullying or other fish related hi jinx she realized that I did need an extra tank to deal with situations that come up. Well my second tank has over the years gotten bigger and bigger and become a tank all on its own. Well sure enough a recent illness popped up and I did not know where to put all the fish so my wife suggested another back up to the back up tank. LOL, I did not want to push it too much so only added a 40B! But now I have three tanks going 210g, 72g bowfront, and a 40B.

Hah ya I started with a 90g ( had smaller tanks but was younger and not really into the hobby) then I convinced her to let me get a 2 gallon cube in the bedroom then a buddy gave me a 20g for free she accepted that then my piranha started to breed long story short I now have a 90 and 3 40gb and a 2.5g all set up in out one bedroom apartmant and I'm looking for a 180g+ and she's actually excited about it now it took a year and a half but something with women and baby's ( piranha fry ) gets them to excited lol

The first few years I was in the hobby I had 7 tanks ranging from 30 to 75 gallons running in a small apartment. For me, it began to take the enjoyment out of it. Now I only run one 120. I've found keeping up on only one tank helps me enjoy the tank I have even more. I don't really see me having more than one tank running at a time again. Although I was just talking to my fiance about an addition on the back of the house so I can go bigger:D

I remember when the fish bug bit me and my number of aquariums went from 1 55g to a 6.5g, 20g, 40g, 55g, 150g and 500g plus 2 stock tanks. I actually bought a baby rtc because my ex thought it was just so cute and I knew it would get huge quick so when it outgrew the 40g tank in a month I was like "oh well time for a major upgrade" and she couldnt get mad haha

I started out with a 2.5g when I was like 6 or 7 years old. I had that for a few years. When I was in college I really started to want a tank again. I ended up getting a 37g for a Christmas present even though I wanted only a 55g. Then I found a good 55g on Craigslist. Bought my 180g and then started working on a 20g. All four tanks were running in my house at one time and it was a bit crazy. Gradually I sold off the 55g after my 180 was set up and moved those fish in. The 20g and 37g and those fish were sold off. Now I'm back down to one tank - my 180g. I'm loving it still.

I guess my fish bug hit me hard and fast. I wasn't happy with the typical community stuff and wanted the more "hardcore" fish. That is what led me down this path. I guess there are way worse things to be addicted to, eh?

You can't have the fish bug and want only 1 tank It just can't be possible. When it bit my wife and I we ended up with 115 tanks and I don't think we are done. It is starting to look like a fish house or should I say a large shop is in our future. After all I need some place to set up my 1500 gallon tank that is in storage. Just stay the course you will break him down Amber.

MTS strikes again, an insidious affliction.

I got my husband to ok a 300 if I can get one at a great price but I'm thinking what's the point if in the end a 300 won't be big enough for the sharks anyway. A pond is what I need. He's not understanding that a pond is not about how big it is but how much area the sharks will have to swim. I've always had a tank but the monsters are new to me. I got into this strictly for ID Sharks so of course I'm gonna do whatever they need.
He thinks the pond won't happen bc I can't build it without his help! Haha thanks to all the info here I don't need his help...lol.
Us women have to stick together! Monster fish are not just for the men. If we can raise real monsters (kids) then we can surely raise them in tanks too! :D
