It depends on the personality, but usually they're only really aggressive with other pikes and sometimes are even okay with conspecifics. I would try a johanna or Xingu I. they're pretty readily available, fairly inexpensive and get a good size but not huge like venezuela
ya, for sure, some can be, but that goes for almost any cichlids. it seemed like you were saying it's not worth the risk, but I love creni's better than CA/SA, so I strongly disagreeAMG;2439277; said:I had a Crenicichla strigata that was extremely aggressive, even at his juvenile stage. He trashed my Pleco daily, almost killed my JD, took cheap shots on a Red Devil I had at the time, almost killed one of my Convicts, etc. I had to get rid of him (which I still regret) for the safety of my other cichlids.
So I was simply warning CubanB (from my own experience) that pikes can be extremely aggressive. Not all are, but some can be. So the risk is there.

pwmin;2440042; said:so, yeah, you should try a pike w/ your O's, CubanB. nice, name, btw. is that a Half-Baked reference? I'm sorry to hear you're tired of Cichla. I just got my first ones a month ago and I'm almost as hooked as I am with crenicichla.
