So we have some unused old ugly gold jewelry we'd like to get rid of. But anybody used any of those online cash-for-gold type services? Any specific company you can recommend? Or other options for selling gold? Google search leads to endless spammy sites...

Almost all local shops that staff jewelers will buy it.

dont send it to those rip off gold things..take it to a coin store near you and they should be able to direct you to a place to sell your gold.

look up the price of gold before you do.

its best to call around to local coin and jewlry shops, and ask their buying price. then decide where to sell. all i can say is gold is up pretty high right now. its up to 1710.70 thats up $150 for 12 months.

Thanks. Yeah I figured lots of those online places will lowball you. I read up on how to calculate the estimated value based on the what carat gold it is, and I have a small digital scale, so I'll have to do the math. Anybody actually ever dealt with those online places, just curious?

haha I remember that!

^ I'll get back to you on that. My gf just brought some old jewelry from her parent's house, so let me check it out. It's not much though, just a few random pieces that we have absolutely no use for since she doesn't like yellow gold anymore, so we figure might as well sell it.
