Semi self cleaning aquarium.

Hi Thanks for the reply's.
I have been too busy to work on the self cleaning airlift. I just finished the pvc gluing on the basement 55 gallon drums last night.
Basically it allows me too use a water spray sprayer to blow all the poop and detris into a corner that is equipped with a central vacuum.
Still has a few bugs, mostly what grade of sand to use as a substrate, and setting up decor.

It is not for every body, the tank is 5 feet off the ground, set up on a "continuous drip 5 to 55 gallons at a time. I have it flowing through a 55 gallon drum, that can be valve off from the tank, dumped and refilled.
My problem is vacuuming around the decor. It is a lot fast if I could just blow everything off.
The filters catch all the floaters, so it is mostly just the heavy stuff.

So once the solid waste leaves the tank that wTer won't return? I'm still just as confused

And like as been stated, poop is only a small percentage of fish waste. Respiration produces lots of ammonia. Lots.......

I am looking at the general cleaning of the sand substrate, and how it looks to an outside observer.

I am curious if any one uses or tried. Traveling water screens, or similar continuous filtering methods.

If you are looking to move waste off the bottom for mechanical removal of unsightly feces you might consider low mounted or down angled power heads to push the poop to your removal sight. I don't know your tank and stock specifics so I can't say if this is viable or not. I did this in my tank but it is a community tank and the poop is fairly light and easily moved this way

That is my intention. The discharge from the filter canister is on the bottom of the tank. It pushes water around clockwise. In the front side corner I have a 1/2" suction hole between the baffle and then main area of the tank. A 600 Gph submersible pump is mounted inside their baffled off area about 12" off bottom.
The pump flow is not strong enough to pick up
the bigger solids,
However a airlift tube mounted near the suction hole, could pick up everything that comes in the suction hole, and deposit it on a filter screen above the water line. To be removed daily.
