Hey everyone,

just got a 65 gallon hexagon glass tank from my uncle and wanted some ideas. I want some unique, cool fish.

my experience has always been with the general common types...community, goldfish, guarami's, bala's etc. I want some fish that won't outgrow my tank and will really stand out. but have no idea!

65g Hexagon tank:
-------Fill it with plants..........Drop in two dozen Dwarf Puffers...
-------A breeding pair of Discus or Angelfish...........
-------A breeding pair of Convicts..........

i like the puffer and discus and angelfish idea. convicts aren't really colorful and somewhat aggressive right?

do the plants need to be real? i have always had plastic plants

instead of convicts get some clown loaches or clown knifes :)

a clown knive is to big for that tank...I would do a pair of discus with a big school of tetras...maybe like congos?

Clown knifes and clown loaches both get way too big for that tank.

To the OP, anything under 6" will be fine, but I definitely wouldn't get anything larger than that.

Edit: maybe I shouldn't have said nothing over 6", as long as it isn't too active I think you could probably go up to 10-12".

a bichir? i would think a sengal would work but since its a hex i'm not sure

Yeah, I think a single senegal or palmas would be okay in that tank size. You could also get one of the smaller spiny eel species (zigzag eel, peacock, etc.).
