Hey all, so I have been wanting to get a BGK and a Senegal Bichir for a while now, but earlier today I was at my fish specialty shop (Not Petsmart) and saw that they had a Senegal Bichir, as well as a Delhezi Bichir.
I was wondering how these two get along? They are both the same size at the shop. If they get along just fine, I may forget about the BGK and just get both of those.
So, does anyone have both of those in the same tank, if so, how do they get along?
(My tank will be 120 gallons, with lots of caves and logs.)

they'll be fine together, i currently have 2 sens and a del with no issues, sens are a bit bigger but del is catching up quick - they're also in with an african brown knife with no issues so don't worry about the BGK, you should be fine with all 3 and then some

Ok then, do you know if the Senegal and Delhezi get along with Plecos? The shop has bristelnose, but thier only 1 inch right now, just babies, the bichirs would eat them right up, no? They have common plecos though that are about 3-5 inches, the same size as the bichirs they have right now..

Do plecos and bichirs just not get along, or whats the deal with it? If its the size of the pleco that matters, the shop has them all, from babies to like a foot long...

my plecos are fine with my bichirs. but not my sae. I have a bristelnose and a royal. You can try, but if you even see one try to suck on your bichir. move it.

Well, i know that the Pleocs will try to get the slime coat from the bichir, but only if its not being fed right, right? I wont add the Pleco in untill about a month after the bichirs, to make sure theres an algea build up and such, and i have some algea pellets. So the Pleco should stay well fed. Will the bichirs try to get the algea pellets, or will they taste it and leave it alone?

trust me, plecos would sneak up on the bichir eventually.

My Sengal steals the Algae wafers from my Bristlenose! They are fine together so far other wise!

How important is the slime coat to a fish? I know it helps prevent disease and such, but isnt there medications that can repair/rebuild it? Someone sold me some once when they told me my cichlid lost its slime coat...

Ill try it i guess, but the second i see it start to attach itself to the bichir i'll remove it..

(I am going to get a crawfish for my 10g, will a pleco do well in there? I know crawfish are ambush predators and such, but the pleco i will buy is 2-3 inches bigger than the baby crawfish they have. Im asking because if the pleco does start eating the slime coat, ill have to put him in there as a temp home...)
