KEEP your OLD media! it has hopefully been cycled and has the bacteria needed to maintain your tank. if you put new in you will have to recycle that tank and that will cause bigger problems.
B BichirKing i really need your help

B Bichir24795 first I'd suggest this being its own post and not buried in someone else's so more people will see it, maybe put in the disease and health section. just quickly looking it looks like the gill flap is missing or injured thus showing the gills themselves which are red. young Bichirs hang up near the surface more than larger ones. what his tank mates? do you have a water test kit?

Hi, thank you so much for replying, this bichir is kept alone, like his the only one in the tank, I’ve been keeping this bichir for more then 4 months, I used to feed it frozen blood worm cubes and now frozen brine shrimp cube, it hasn’t grown a lot...and yesterday after changing it to a clean tank, it suddenly float up to the water like it was going to die, and after while sink right to the bottom, it didn’t want to eat the brine shrimp I gave....I did use the water conditioner in my tank water...and.. I do not have a water test kit...

Post this in a separate thread in the fish health and disease section. You’ll need to get a test kit and check the water. How long has the tank been setup? What’s ur water change schedule? Are u adding a dechlorinator with the water changes? Try feeding a pellet, like massivore or nls, instead of shrimp and bloodworms.

Fish and disease section below.

I set up the tank yesterday morning and added the fish in the afternoon, and yes I did use a water conditioner that said to remove the chlorine in the water, will putting a pellet help increase it appetite?
