im thinking abot getting a sen for my 38 gallon aquarium. i need alll the help i can get since ive never had these before. also what tankmates can they have?food? ect. thanks in advance :)

As for tankmates, I have no idea...I have one in a 30 and I am under commands to not keep her with anything to ensure that there is no overstocking issue. The tank size is fine though.

I feed mine freeze-dried krill and Hikari Sinking pellets.

Well i know that filtration isnt an issue since the filter on it is rated for a 55-70 gallon aquarium...hehe can you say overkill? :P

You'll need to make sure your tankmates are not too small enough to fit an adult senegal bichir's mouth nor end up deathrolled. A lot of medium sized cichlids usually fare much better but make sure there is adequate space for them to establish their territories.

Ok one HUGE question what are the dimensions I know the Primer says 36X16X12 is okay for sens but 12" is a wee too short go with a 40gal Breeder if you can but surface area is more important than gallons, IMO/IME....IMO Convicts would be Deathrolled by a 10" Senegal

Since convicts are the guppies of the cichlid world breeding-wise, that MIGHT be a bonus chip as fry control. It's almost as hard to get rid of convicts as guppies now.

well it is 12" wide and thats all i can use...and im breeding cons so it will be fine if a few get eatten

it's a great bichir! easy to take care of, very friendly. though it can get startled pretty easily sometimes.
