Senegal bichir tankmates

The closest I can think of as far as Senegal are delhizi and the cousin to bichir rope fish. Delhizi has nearly the same shape as the sen, but it has nicer patterning, the ropen fish has a similar head, and a smaller version of the same tail, the rest of it is.... quite interesting. All of these bichir max out around 12" mark and the rope fish a little more (16"?) Just keep in mind that these fish will require a solid lid to keep them from suiciding on accident. If you want to stay smaller like I said the peacock eel is marvelous and you can keep several at a time (I think they prefer it). The rope fish unlike their bichir cousin, do prefer the presence of others of their kind, so if you get one, plan to get a few more. They probably wont stress and die an early death alone, but they certainly won't be the happiest either. As I mentioned, the Dennison barb would be an excellent shark type and they love to school as well. If you are thinking angels, and your tank is limited in size, I would rethink getting much else. An angel can be kept in a smaller tank, but they do reach impressive sizes in their own right, and that will limit how many others you are keeping with them.

If you had a 55 gallon, I would say maybe a pair of sen, a pair of delhizi, 2 or 3 ropes, 4 or 5 Dennison barbs, and maybe some corydoras to round up your cleaning crew (try to get emerald as I am not sure if the Sen would try to eat an armored cat or not). You could also get a dwarf pleco or 2, but I wouldn't do much more than that.

I just rea lied you may want to rethink the denison barbs, they are smaller yes, but they do love to swim. I think I read that they would prefer larger tanks (75 gallon minimum maybe?).

Okay cool thanks and by chance would you know why a peacock eel has a cut up tail thanks again

It actually isn't cut up, it just has a little "feather" on it. Just the way the species is. The other larger spiney eels don't have the feather. It sounds like you may already have the peacock eel, so I will go ahead and recommend a cave rock like decoration, or some pvc tubing or both... and a fairly deep sand substrate. Eels love to burrow, they are ambush predators in the wild, and they haven't really kicked that habit in captivity.
