I would say keep it between 78 and 82 degrees. Best way to cool down a tank for the entire summer.....buy a small 10" fan and point it directly over a large opening in the tank. Because polys jump so much.....get some sort of plastic grate to cover the open area. They sell them at LFS for making shelfs in sumps. Basicaly something that the fish can't fit through but will allow a lot of the cool air from the fan to get into the tank. If you need pics let me know. I can show you my set up.

Lol. I bought mine at 8 inches. He's grown 2 inches in 3 months, this guy downs medium pellets when it's feeding time.

Ive had mine for about two months and has grown from 2" to almost 6". Im not sure if hes just a monster or its his care but hes in my cichlid tank for now. My water temp is around 78 and i feed him two blood worm cubes twice a day which he gladly demolishes (this started with just 1 cube twice a day the other fish take care of what he doesnt eat).
