Senegal Bichir?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah! I remember my first Senegalis! That was a great fishy! I grew him from an extremely thin and stunted juvenile to a beautiful and plimp adult. I even was able to hand feed him his favorite food; tubifex worms. As stated above, they do grow quite large, but I think your 90g is plentiful! I house my newest baby in a 75g with some interesting tankmates. I recomend you have plenty of driftwood/rockwork in your tank. They seem most comfortable in a cavernous layout. I have noticed, with my own, that they idle on the nocturnal end. Typicly hidding throughout the day then becoming more active ater on in the evening. Although, my little guy tends to come out of hidding the moment he spits me! ( will add pics later). My store sold them for $4 each, but the sale ended, then back to $6. A fair price, all things considered. My hope it to aquire an ornate or albino strain. Unfortunatly our area isn't know for exotic fish. Okay, so I talk in utterly mixed topics, but you'll grow to getting used to it!:naughty:
At any rate, feeding is easy to do, provided the tankmates aren't pig-ish. I feed mine bloodworms, tubifex worms, brine shrimp, shrimp pellets, small bits of romaine lettuce, and algae waffers. You should see him topple a whole waffer! Reminds me of a snake easting an egg! Greedy little guy! Well, though new to this site, it would seem you have come to the right place. I see many avid fish keepers have much experience with the odd and amazing. Good luck with your new fishy! You'll not be dissapointed!
