I had just bought a 6in. Senegal bichir and I was told it eats flakes but when I went to feed it it only ate about 2 flakes. Please let me know any suggestions on what to feed it in order for it to stay alive and be healthy thank you

Bichirs will eat flakes, frozen blood worms, black worms, earth worms (if you do this make sure you rinse of worm and make sure no pesticides were readily exposed to the worm)
and my bichir will also munch on algae wafers I drop in!
I hope this is helpful!

mine eat floating cichlid gold, and sinking pellets too, blood worms (frozen), brine shrimp (frozen). i've never put algae wafers in the tank, so i don't know if they eat those or not.

The fish is often sold as a flake eater, however flakes hold little to no nutritional value for bichirs. That being said mine do eatflakes and catfish pellets that I put in for my other fish, so it won't hurt them but you need to give the fish something else. The cheapest way is to feed them some pellets high in protein, massivores sinking carnivore etc. Also bloodworms, brine shrims and other frozen meaty foodsare also good. I like to give my bichirs earth worms often also.

Since its pretty new in your tank, it hasnt adjusted yet. It has to adjust first. I bought mine and first fed it bloodworms then mix with pellets. Its now 8 and bought it at 5inches. Good lucK!

I feed mine chopped tilapia, scallops, earthworms, red wigglers, etc. as well as pellets.

blood worms, beef heart, and hikari sinking pellets are your best bet!

mine eats shrimp pellets, hikari gold pellets, bloodworms, beefheart but also enjoys the occasional earthworm
