Senegal growth rate question

If fed properly, I'd say the senegal has one of the highest growth rates. They have a big growing curve though, growing VERY quickly from 3-7'' and then it tapers off dramatically. I just traded in my two senegals - I'd had them for over 3 years. It took them maybe all of 3 months to go from 3'' to 6'', then all the rest of the time to get to 10''. They had another 2'' to go before adulthood, and I'd imagine it would take them another 3 years to reach that length.

I've kept a pair of ropes in a 29g and they were perfectly happy. As long as you don't have too many other fish in there with them, they should be fine. Only issues I had with my pair was that they would continually swim up into the HOB filter, knock the plastic lid off, and get loose. But hey, that's a ropefish for you :)

typical darn things, i had 2/3 of mine get through the hole in the lid for the heater cord, no bigger of a hole then they were thick, stupid rope fish lol.

im going to try out the senegal then, they are as spazy and jumpy when your hand is in the tank either.

I like those pieces of wood. Looks real good!

thank you very much :), it is Mopani driftwood, the only african wood available in my neck of the woods lol, and at 30bux a piece, it gets expensive, but i had a 30 dollar gift card and i get 25% off so it didnt equal up to much at all.

i still need more plants, im putting an anubias in that empty stop in the middle at the bottom, just letting it float there, some hiding spots for my little baby whale.

i wonder how can you tell if its stunted??? ive had mine for almost 5 months already and only went from 2.5ish to 5ish. i only feed it sinking pellets once a day..i tried feeding it chopped shrimp, BF, etc..but would end up getting bloat

i dunno, ive had me albino senegal for a good 5 years and hes still only 6", he is fed daily and 50% water changes are done weekly, hes in a 90g.
