at least try to stick to frozen then, Flake and pellets are most often low in fiber, leading to constipation, and this in turn can cause swim bladder disorders and bloating in your bichir.

Normal. I don't know how they fit that much in them..lol.. but they do and it's normal.

Misidentified. Could not have been a senegal, senegals do not get even close to that size.

You have to beware of feeder fish unless you quarentine and breed your own. parasites are not fun to deal with. You could always feed live earthworms or shrimp.

o and how long have you had him? they will grow extremely fast givin the right diet and space, my youngest i have had for 3 months, and he has gone from 2" and very thin to over 6" and has grown about 1/2" in diameter, last month i got to see a 4 foot senegal at cleveland zoo!

when i used other store bought stuff i would see the ropes with there lower halves stuck stuck high behind them, from having air/gas stuck in there swim bladder, and the senegal bloated n lazy layin on the bottom for hours after eating, so now i just take left over veggies n other foods n bury them in a whole in the back yard, after a month or so you have an endless supply of worms, just be sure you dont fertalize the lawn lol between the earth worms, blood worms, beefheart(also very easy and cheap to make ur own), and the occasional crawfish from the creek near buy,(for the senegal not the ropes), they stay healty n bloat free

yeah the senegal was 14" i think, the 4 foot guy looked sooo much like one i really thought it was one for a while, still dont know what it was, they also had this bad ass stone fish, so of course now i want one, or at least i did untill i found out how deadly they are well.. still want one lol
