senegal in 55

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The only real aggression issues would be with Ornates and even that's not too bad. Most Polys do well with each other providing the size difference isn't too much. My Endlis would snap once in a blue moon, but they don't chase each other around or cause any damage. A lot of people mix Polys. And they're pretty carnivorous from the get go.

I'd say go for it cause it ain't hurin my tank any...
I got a senegal bichir almost 7" with a suncat, pictus cat, and pleco (not common) and never had a problem with anything.

- My pleco is about 8.5" now

Awsomes replies guys. unfortunately i do have a common pleco... we,ll c wht happens. i think i have enough artificial plants n rocks to allow the sens to hide if needed. plannin on floating a plant too.

I had a pleco and a senegalus together for like 2 weeks. Today I saw the pleco sucking on the bichirs slime coat, and the bichir wasnt really trying to get away, I dont think it hurts them, but can still damage them and thats why it is dangerous because they dont swim away frantically. Btw the pleco went back to the petstore. And yeah, Polys do prefer sand substrate.

I have pea gravel, and my bichir seems to be comfortable how he is in my 55 gallon, I'll post a pic up of my current set up and try to get a pic of my pleco and bichir if there not hiding already lol.

Here's my 55g as of today; the big plant off to the left my senegal and my sun cat seem to share hence why he isn't in the pics lol.

And my pleco...

Had an oscar and a blue channel cat in my previous set up. the pleco didnt bother the oscar but when the blue cat got big he would hang on him like a remora on a shark lol. not all the time but quite often. never seemed to hurt the blue jus annoy him. i also use "Stress Coat" which is a conditioner as well as replaces the slime coat. so idk if tht'll help or not....

@Kyle_91- awsome tank dude! thought bout usin pea gravel i mess with it everyday 2 my job. might try n snag a couple 5 gal buckets full of it.

Well went to petsmart today, walked out with --2-- senegal bichers and 2 sm. angelfish. All seem to be doin good n setteling in fine. my pleco hasnt even noticed the new tankmates or really even moved since i put them in there, hopefully everthing works out! the sens are about 2.5" i'll post some pics tomarrow when there's more light
