Senegal Live food?

lol too many fish. I kept my two bichirs, a senegal and an ornate with only a pleco for many a month before i could put them in my bigger tank with a pbass, parrot, and bushynose pleco. So far everyone is happy but thats because no one is food for the other. If you want to keep a bichir with "community fish" you really need to get a fish that either stays on the very top of the tank or fish that will always be larger than its mouth. In my experience my bichirs never try to eat anything that is too big to swallow in one attempt. Like say, rainbow fish or tinfoil barbs. Either way the fish you have will eventually be a snack no matter what, bichirs grow much much faster and much much bigger than the other fish in your tank. And also some senegals like to swin the whole lenght of the tank, from top to bottom, so even if you think your other fish are out of the way of the bottom dwelling bichir, they can still get them. Mine loves to chase feeders around the tank and corner them. But enough said. I hope for the best.

My feeders are danios. Your danios days are most likely numbered.

someone please help!

my ornate bichir has a devective/extra meat on his right nose
and he won't eat even if there are food in froth of him i'm afraid he will starve to death because he cannot smell food normally!!!

Ignatius^^^ post pics, and we can help you diagnose. Also to stay on subject, breeding guppies is incredibly easy. That's what I do. I've also noticed that if you throw the fry into my Bichir tank he won't eat them until they get larger, but every case is different. Other wise as everyone has said, any worm(blood, tubifex, earthworms) are a good live good choice as they're high in protein and relatively cheap.

try meal worms, and then guppies if you cna find those

but senegals r easy toget off of live food so why dont you feed it massivore?

My senegal and delhezi love Massivore, as a treat give them a worm. They will eat fish around half of its length, I lost a 4" florida gar to a 8" delhezi that way.
