To a 600l (150g)

Species: Synodontis decorus, S. schoutedeni, Ctenopoma acutirostre, Black ghost knife, Congo tetras, Mastacembelus circumcinctus, Anaspidoglanis macrostoma, Crossocheilus siamensis, Hoplosternum sp.

Looking to get next: Polypterus senegalus or P. palmas. (maybe two or three)

Question: which one of these is the more peaceful species?
Had an P. senegalus before but lost him for unknown reason (maybe he over-ate). I was just wondering if there are any major differences between the species? The senegalus (6") i had was just fine in this setup before and didn't eat or bother anyone.

Either should do. You could check out the other species, (see sticky) you should be just fine with either senegal or a palmas sp.

I prefer Delhezis myself but personally i'd go with a cpl of senegals-Anne

I was thinking about Delhezis also but thought that it is a bit more aggressive/predatory?

The senegal I had did well with the congo tetras and siamese algae eaters.
I guess there are differences between individuals in polypterus also...

Yes there is each has it own personality. We I respond to a question you will find qualifier words such as generally or usually, blanket statements like yes it will leave
fish to big to eat alone turst me thats a very incorrect statement and i do try to avoid using them -Anne

palmas FTW GREENESS!

i would consider delhezi's as anne said.all bichirs have their own personalities.is there a size of bichir you are considering,or,is it just the senegal/palmas????
i have owned/do own the following.
lapreidi
palmas
ornate
senegal
delhezi

the ornates are beautifully coloured, but, are generally pretty inactive although the ornate i now own is very active and out and about the tank all the time.
i have owned 2 x delhezi's and they have stunning markings and are usually very active bichirs
the lapreidi's were very inactive and just came out to eat and then hid away again
both the senegals/palmas are usually very active bichirs as well

i hope this helps in your decision

mark.

iv owned every upper jaw except for moke, teugelsi, palmas palmas
