was just wondering (once again) i have two senegals right now and i wanna get 1 male convict would it work?

Possible, just keep an eye out of the convict picking on the senegal

If the convicts are smaller than the bichir, the bichir might eat them. but if the convicts are bigger than ur bichir, the convicts might bully and bloodly the poor bichir up.

depends on size of convict. if hes small he might get eaten. if hes big he might pick on the senegal like the other guys said. your probably best off not doing it.

yea i didnt, i went with a centopoma acutirostre

I keep Cten's with albino Sen's and have never seen any aggression between the species.

I have kept a large male Convict in a 90G with a juvi. albino & juvi. regular Senegal, both much smaller than the Convict, and again, no interaction whatsoever between species much less aggression.

This is an insane aggressive male convict also. Constantly posturing with two baby Datnoids, a 5" EBJD, two 6" African Black Knives & an UBER agressive 7" Para Polleni Tilapia.

None of the tankmates have EVER messed with EITHER Senegal!

WOW, I have yet to EVER see ANY TYPE OF cichlids that I keep EVER mess with ANY TYPE of Bichir homed.

I have to be the luckiest newbie on the planet.

Bichir cohabitation with Cichlids for 6+ months in various growout tanks have included:

Ornates: (Oscar, Dovi, Jaguar, Cuban, Venezuelan Pike, Trinidad Red Pike, Polleni Tilapia, Nile Tilapia, Buttekoferi Tilapia & Red Bay Snook)

Delhezis: (Spangled Pike, Cuban, Polleni Tilapia, Buttekoferi Tilapia, Severums)

Senegals: (Lemon Oscar, Convict, EBJD, Sur Earth Eater, Kribensis, Turquoise Jewels & Trinidad Pike)

i had a small JD with a small bichir bout 2.5" and jd wouldnt let the little guy eat so i did away with any type of cichlid till the bichirs are bigger. My ctenopoma is doing fine with these guys at the moment

i have had a senegal in a tank with a few cichlids, including a convict, for several years and no issues at all...u should be fine, but just pay attention..
