Senegalus acting crazy - Illness?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a feeling it's not digestive, and I'm starting to think he's going to need to be euthanized... I've been debating putting him in a QT but I'm concerned that the move may aggravate a broken bone, if that's what it is. Whatever it is, it really bothers me to watch it

It does look like its injured, but i dont see any signs where it got injured. Maybe genetics, since its cb. I had a endli that didnt get injured but it turn to a S shape due to genetic.

Ok finally was able to get video. He doesn't move until I put food in the tank and then he really struggles to get to it. I think he may have a broken back, or a fractured bone or something. Here's a video...

This guy is pretty skittish, so it's totally possible that he bolted into the glass and vertebrae smashed against each other... I don't think it's genetics, just because it was so sudden.

It does appear to be some issues with the spine. I've never seen it during, but have seen the aftermath of a tank full of senegals with S shaped spines. It's definitely was genetic.

It does look like he can't move his rear end. :(

I had a CB senegal that I had to euthanize - his jaw dislocated and he couldn't eat. I wonder if the CB sens are more likely to have weird things due to overbreeding?

If you have to euth, you can get clove oil at a natural food store.

Doesn't look sick. Looks as stated, something is wrong with it spine, being cb makes such a deformity more likely. I'd say that's the most likely case. In which case you don't have to euthanize it but you can if that's what you feel is best.

Polyaddict86 Polyaddict86 had a cb endli spasm to a S shaped. It later straightened itself out .
