Okay seriously fish growth is NOT determined by tank size, if you don't believe me do a search on the topic I'm sure there are a thousand threads on it. Fish ARE, however stunted by poor water quality that is common in tanks that are too small for the fish they are in!

Moreover, senegals being air breathing I don't think poor water quality would have as much (if any) effect on growth.

Btw, my 10" sen is currently in a 55, spent most of her life in a 125 before being forcefully evicted by my Sperata! :)

To answer the question directly - I think the general consensus is that a 55 is reasonable home for life for a senegal.

Thank you all my miss is lcosing 9 inches

I've had my ablino sen for almost a year now and he is only about 5"

I had an albino that was about 10-11 inches when he died. One of my reg. sens is about that size now. i don't feed them huge amounts of food though. i really disapprove of the fat bichir look.

But a fat bichir is a happy bichir :p

No a round bichir is a happy bichir the sad thruth is most people overfeed -Anne

Must agree many of the pics I see on here are ALARMING as far as how OBESE a lot of bichirs are. I keep mine nice and lean, only feed 2 to 3 times a week. I imagine just like with humans being FAT probably cuts thier lifespans down DRASTICALLY. I'll have mine around for years! :)
