Hmm I bought my SB 5 months ago and it hasn't grown AT ALL. It is in a 55gal with 1 male jd, who isn't that big either, but it has grown. The JD never harasses the sb, they actually swim together some, my sb hides a lot of course, as does the jd, but when I feed (pellets) the sb does eat, but not much. I have tried SEVERAL different freeze dried foods for the sb and he won't eat any of it. I really don't know what to do. I change the water weekly of 25-30%. I just think hes a dud :(

yeah
you know you seen it, its tat tiny one
i feed it heaps, same water change regime as any other tanks. but for some reason it aint getting bigger!
annoying
i moved it perhaps a change of tanks might do it some good, see how we go

How big is it? If you know it's SB I'm not sure why you're expecting growth lol they max around 5-6"

Freeze dried foods aren't that great, polypterus love meaty foods, so think seafood and hikari carnivore/massivore.

The Hikari pellets absorb water quickly and get a fleshy texture that bichirs loove. Even my wild caught delhezis jumped on this stuff without any fuss, they love the smell and taste.

i feel sinking carnivore, to small for massivore and sinkings have better growth if tey are babies.

it tendsto eat the pellets i feed the parrot in there too, and the pictus cat.

it eats everything!

I read differently, http://badmanstropicalfish.com/profiles/profile41.html . Says up to 20 inches. I feed hikari pellets also, and only my jd eats them. sb won;t touch it.

Which shop did you buy it from??? Mind you it shouldn't have mattered too much as I think they all come from the same supplier down here. But then again it may have counted depending on the shop.

My two baby Delhezis I got from work have gained an inch at home while the two that remained behind didn't change much... I've been feeding mine frozen blood worms, mysis shrimp, cichlid tucker, Hikari sinking carnivore pellets, surimi and few odds ends from the Japanese restaurant doggie bag; twice a day.

Stu :)

PS. We may get palmas polli down this way again, pester the LFSs and pet stores and the suppiler may put them on a future order.
