i had a friend who's arowana died because of medication, later on read that they don't like it, or are weak against medications.

but are water conditioners going to be o.k.? such as prime

Never heard of aros dying from meds, unless it was from overdose. I would dought the meds were the reason the aro died, there are many other variables to consider.

It was a medication for some kind of parasite that sticks onto the body..
And in the book he read it said to lower the dosage to 1/2 or 1/3 of the suggested amount.

So are you saying seachem prime is going to be fine?

Seachem prime will be fine, my two silver aros get dosed with 3 capfuls every week.

How can you be sure it died from medication? Presumably it was being treated for some kind of disease in the first place, so it's more than likely it died from that.

Seachem Prime will be fine - an excellent product IMO.

is it possible to over-dose seachem prime?
when i say over-dose i mean like 1 or 2 capful more than suggested ammount, to try to get the ammonia out of the water without a huge water change.

It says here http://www.seachem.com/products/product_pages/Prime.html
"For exceptionally high chloramine concentrations, a double dose may be used safely. To detoxify nitrite in an emergency, up to 5 times normal dose may be used. If temperature is > 30 °C (86 °F) and chlorine or ammonia levels are low, use a half dose."

I believe Prime will detoxify ammonia, nitrite and nitrate making them less harmful to your fish but does not actually remove them from the water by itself.

that's when i need to do water changes.lol

but what's the whole point(of w/c) if it detoxifies the ammonia?
how does it work too?
i heard somewhere that it hardens the chlorine, etc. up and the mechanical filtration sucks it up

The piont of water changes is to rid your fish tank of a build up nitrates.
