Can I use tambark or hickory chips for the bottom of my pleco tank instead of a big piece of draftwood?

I imagine it would make cleaning it very difficult as the wood would get sucked up by the siphon very easily. I don't know how well a panaque would be able to rasp on a small chip of wood as opposed to a big heavy piece of driftwood that won't move around. You're still going to need something to provide cover for the plecs, either wood or rocks, so now sure why you wouldn't just use driftwood. I don't think it would look very nice either.

Thanks.I was jus curious about it if any body has tried it bc I know the plecos need wood and the tambark is so cheep lol besides the draftwood is there any other type of wood I can put in for them

I think mopani & drift woods are the best for pleco
Those the only one's i use in my tank(but, have more mopani)

The mopani wood is that the wood in the reptile section in like petsmart? Or do they have specific ones for fish
