For me it depends on the males. My motoro males and one of my marble males are very aggressive and won't leave the females alone even after they are pregnant, so they get separated. My other 2 marble males and my henlei male leave the females alone for the most part once they are pregnant, so they get to stay in the main tank.

It could have been the other females here that prompted the move of that male away from my ladies. There was 3 adult females and him in the 750. Not sure if the females would pick on eachother but I guess it could be possible? The big female is a witch.
The male I got from Todd has been down with Brett for a few months now and he said the same thing mentioned here..... Perfect gentleman to the female he's with now. No issues whatsoever and I think pushover was even used to describe him lol.
In regards to keeping/breeding.... I'm a big fan of backup plans. I'd have a spot for him in the event it's needed. Even if it's just a big rubbermaid tub tied into the system.
The male in my 750 seems fine now with preggo rays and don't plan on seperating. This could be due to the fact that there's plenty of ladies for him (6F-1M).

I appreciate all the info. By the sounds of it I am going to go for it, mine as well. I do have a fairly large fish room and I can move things around to fit a large tank for the male if need be...might just have to break down some of my 1600ish gallons of saltwater

I use egg crate to separate my male from the female and put this in place about a month before she is due to pop and keep it there for at least a month after she pops to give her time to recover rather than the male jump straight back on her.
