Septic tank question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i live in the country and also have a septic tank. i do weekly water changes for my 125 & 150g tanks. I never put the water in the septic tank, instead I use the water to water the yard and plants. I use a regular garden hose for my water changes.

Thx again guys. Learned tons of things to ask about my system that i never would have thought to ask.

Im thinking i could hook up a pool hose to a jebao pump i have and run the hose out of my basement windown onto the front lawn and even down to the culvert if i go with a 100ft length.

Do you guys think the vinyl jose will kink ? Has to make a few turns.

Or should i just soend the extra money on the pool hose im thinking it will be more pliable and easier to store

Since you do have the basement sump pit already, you may consider using that to drain the tanks to provided the pit size can handle the volume of water you are draining at any particular time. The bigger the hose, the faster you can drain the tanks.

I've forgotten but how many and what size tanks will you have in the basement?

I have a walk out basement so I just use the black corrugated sump pump hose from HD to drain the tanks in that part of the basement out through the patio door. You would just need to cobble together some PVC fittings to make a J-hook that hangs on the tank, connects to the hose and reaches the sump pit.

I would be nervous that the pit would flood.

Right now its a 75 and 150 gal but i just ordered a 300

hello; Could you during WC adjust the rate of the water so it matches the ability of the sump pump to keep up?

My brother has a sump pump in his basement. I think one issue he had was having the exit hose freeze up during the winter at times. I think he had to arrange the part of the hose outside so that it drained well and did not have any places where water could puddle inside the hose.

Good luck
