I recently started to feed my plecos (L018; L128; L200) with Sera's Catfish Chips and they really seem to thrive on it, way more than on Hikari's Algae wafers, the nastiest polluting food ever !

The ingredients look to me like an improved version of Hikari Algae wafers. The red ingredients are those that seem good to me, the yellow one are fillers (I know, 3 out of the 5 first ones). I don't know what to think about "milk powder" and whole egg powder.

Is someone using this food as stapple ? What do you think of it ?

Fish meal, corn starch, wheat flour, wheat germ meal, spirulina algae meal, brewers yeast, milk powder, herbs, whole egg powder, willow bark, alder wood, fish oil, stinging nettle meal, lucern meal (alfalfa), sea algae meal, spinach meal, paprika, parsley, green-lipped mussel meal, carrots + additives

I prefer Xtreme cat scrapers. Better ingredients.

Someone in my fish club did an experiment with cat scrapers, hikari wafers, sera chips and earthworm pellets, and found that cat scrapers absorbed the least amount of water after 2 hours, followed by sera chips (an ideal trait for plecos). Below is an abbreviated table from that experiment.

Xtreme Aquatic Foods Sera
Cat Scrapers Catfish Chips
Protein 38% 35.40%
Fat 5% 7.90%
Fiber 6% 5.80%
Main Green Pea Wheat Meal
Ingredients Fish Meal Wheat Germ Meal

Kelp Meal Meal Spinach

Not yet. My plecos love the Thera A+ w/ garlic pellets, but unfortunately all the other fish do too. The good thing with wafers/chips is that some of my other fish can't eat them, namely my "hoover" like striped raphael.

Yeah check out the NLS wafers. The only downside is that they are a bit on the small size (maybe 3/4 the size of hikari). They need to be rasped to be eaten though or I guess a big fish could swallow them whole but that would go for anything. Smaller fish will get bored with them though because they don't melt like the other wafers.
