serious concerns re: mfk that everyone should see

thank you for your well thought out reply to me..... i really wish you were staff here....

i just dont have a 'love it or hate it' attitude about things - i think that i could really grow to love mfk but its like when you are buying a car and there is one small problem with the a/c... you have it fixed and you go on loving your new car......

that is where i am right now at mfk..... i just want this one problem fixed. im not trying to cause trouble and i think its very generous of the admins to have free raffles - even though ap does too without that in their agreement.......

delgado its just weird that ive never seen that kind of agreement at any other hobby forum.... thats why i dont think it is standard legalese and i just want to know why its there and if possible to have it removed for the benefit of everybody

i mean what if in a couple of years when this site is the most popular on the internet they want to make a compilation photo album and they use your pix and dont pay you for them?? just because it might not sell now doesnt mean that it wont sell in the future...... i mean people invest in things that dont make money all the time - they are called loss leaders.............

Done that before to it is requried that you are given full credit, second the people on this site would ask for permission from your first to use the photos, the people that run this site are not that low. Also you dont always get paid for photos if you give them permission w/o asking for pay then pay is not required but they do have to publish a name and if you dont want your photo published w/o being paid for it then you can say no. I still have all right to my photos and I have photos published in books. Its all stuff I learned when I had them published.

But yah most of it is so that the site is not liable and if its sued its not liable etc. thats bascially it becasue again like I stated people will find loop holes if you dont have terms posted so that they can sue and make money =)

It would be like me posting a pic on the site and then saying they stole it and b/c they dont have this agreement I decided to sue them and then I win. something stupid like that. People do try some intresting things for money (obviously like the mc'ds coffe lady) So because they do have the agreement posted I now cant do that.

yeah but if it were about covering all the bases wouldnt it only apply to online display at the forum??? wouldnt it say that mfk would only use what is posted for the forum??? i mean it says offline and online -- that means books and papers and everything..... all without your permission and without payment.. thats what i want changed before ill feel totally comfortable here.....

i mean no other hobbyist sites need that......... i know that mfk is alot better but i just dont see why its needed here... i mean dont the admins trust the members anyway??? you guys all seem close.

Why so suspicious? This site is run by rare-fish lovers, they pay for the site with their own money, no advertising etc, and even give out free decals, do free raffles etc.

There's no problem, this is the best fish site out there.

i didnt say anyone was being used.. im just going on the assumption that people like to make money and dont pour all of this time in a site without declaring it non profit out of the goodness of their heart........

i know that i would still own the pix of somebody else used them - but i would be able to sue them for copyright infringment -- i cant do that here according ot the agreement if somebody took the pix and used them in a magazine or a book or anything else... it basically says that you AND your corporate partners own whatever i post ...... i thought the corporate partners bit was really interesting and thats what got me thinking..

so like i said im only looking for a clarification and promise from the owner of the site thats all! not here to start trouble. i mean we ask questions to our government all the time and they answer.... whats any different about asking our government at the site a question or two now and then?????? i mean our government gives you free services all the time but they are still held accountable right?
