Ok so I have a predicament.
I woke up this morning to find my lovely Flowerhorn dead.
It had a small lump on the side of his body and it turned white and then into an open wound/gash.
I have been doing 50% water changes and have cleaned all three of my filters that are operating in the tank AND have been adding in Melafix to help rid of any bacterial infections, but it has not worked. Below is a picture of the fatal wound on the side of his body.

Now that, that Flowerhorn has passed it appears my two bigger Flowerhorns have picked up the exact same thing.
Started as a little lump but has quickly gone white.
Please people I am begging for fixes you might know of as I really don't want these to follow the same fate as my other little beauty.

Thanks in advance guys,
it means a lot.

Sorry for sounding so Nooby but how do I bump? Lmao
And anther note,
the fish was not attacked in any way.
I sit and watch the tank all day and didn't see any violence towards it so the damage cant be from an attack of any form.
I really hope someone can help, these fish are brilliant and I just can't see them all pass away whilst I sit there with no knowledge on how to help them :(

First off, extremely sorry for your loss. FH are beautiful fish. I had an Oscar with a rose queen (midas hybrid) that started appearing with white patches all over). I thought it must just be some type of infection and not aggression between the fish. Each day it got much worse, but still I noticed no aggression whatsoever all day. So I figured it has to be some kind of infection. But then I went to a a number of local fish stores in the area and showed the owners pics. They were certain that it was being attacked, quite possibly at night. I even made a post on MFK and many of the members agreed and were extremely helpful. What I am saying is keep your mind open to all possibilities regardless of what may seem obvious. Now I believe you fish have only 1 sore? That may be something else but I just wanted to throw it out there because I had a very similar experience. GL I hope someone comments on what exactly is going on. I wish you and your fish the best.

Please post your water perameters. Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, Ph and tank temp. Do you alturnate filter cleanning on a regular bases? Do you vacume the substrate at each WC? Do you use live foods, if so what?

Yeah there is only the one swore.
Roughly the same place on either fish.
And its only on my Flowerhorns, nothing else.
I really hope someone can help I hate sitting around watching the poor things and not being able to help them :( also needs sorting incase it is actually contagious and my other fish catch it :(

I don't know the water parameters atm but I am taking a sample and the fish to the local fish store. Once I find out I will post such information onto this post. lets just hope I get to the bottom of this before it is to late. :(

Do you know your Ph and temperature?

If these abrasions just appeared, then it is either heater burn or aggression.

Please post what fish are in this 6ft tank and how many?

It is never a good idea to clean all your filters at once, you could cause a toxic spike in the near future from flushing away most of your beneficial bacteria. It all depends on the load in your tank and what husbandry you have maintaining it. Also , add some aeration to the tank when using any medications.

Hope you save the rest of them,
Steve

I went to my local fish store yesterday and they done a water test for me, everything was fine bar my nitrate levels so they gave me some aquarium salt, and that seems to be doing the trick. The wounds have died down a little bit and the Flowerhorns are acting more Flowerhorn-ish, by that I mean attacking things and being a little more dominant. Hopefully the worst is done with and they are on the road to recovery. My tank is way overcrowded I know that, most are still Juveniles and I'm waiting for them to grow and pair off before getting shut off some. I have a 6ft tank (135 US Gallons) with 8 Oscars, 4 Dempseys, 4 Green Severums, 5 Parrot Fish, 2 Flowerhorns, 1 Convict, 2 Firemouth, 1 Green Terror, 1 Vieja synspilum, 3 Bristlenose Plecos. I am getting a 4ft tank in two weeks to give the fish more room.
