Serious Water Issues *Help*

Do 50% water change, stop feeding, gravel vac substrate when doing water changes, wait a few days, check again.
 
Sorry, maybe my question was misunderstood. What kind of fish is in the tank? I could have missed it and if I did then I apologize but all I read is you had two bait fish in a ten gallon. The reason I ask is because bait for fishing for sunfish and bait for monster bass (maybe even bigger fish like monster gar) could be two totally different situations in a ten gallon. But at the very least do a.major waterchange

My guess is you completely overfeed your fish and dont do nearly enough water changes. And barely have any established BB.

Over feed would mean left over food in the tank correct?
There is never food (worm) left in the tank longer than one of my fish can circle the tank.

I dont even have gravel or decoration in the tank (no substrate).
In the couple weeks they have been in there I have done two 25% changes and a 40ish change.

There is a Creek Chub (this is a medium male 5.5") and what looks to be a Pumpkinseed/Longear cross in there (4").Today I checked my tap water and it read great on the test strips, maybe a hair hard but everything else was good, so I said what the hell and did a 100% change and wiped the tank out, going to get some new filters later so they have not been fed, but it's crystal clear. I am also going to have to modify my filtering because the poops arent getting pulled into the filter.
 
i think you need to take a step back and research how to setup and maintain an aquarium before you have fish. im not trying to sound mean...but the types of questions/problems you are having should be handled before you have fish. creek chubs and pseeds will not mix. having substrate will help with bacteria "latching" on to it thus helping to support colonies of beneficial bacteria. are you using dechlorinater for your tap water?

Well I have had fish before and never had water issues like this.

Why wont Chubs and Seeds mix? They seem to be doing fine and they both came from the same stream.

I waz thinking the same about the gravel, however this setup is just temporary and was not 100% sure.

I have well water, it is not chemically treated so no need to dechlorinate.

No fish means no cycle. You just wasted electricity running your filters.
I went fishing caught some bait, bait came home which included 1gal of the native stream water, 2 fish died and 3 snails died, now there are two left.

Since adding the fish it has been about 3 weeks.

They eat everything I put in right away, never any wasted food, I feed them crawlers and rinse the dirt off the worms before I feed them there is a bit of dirt in the tank from the worms, it is about the size of two quarters stacked up.

It is a 10 gallon with two hang on the back filters, one is for 5-10gal the other is for 10-20gal.

Tank is not cycled and you are not doing enough water changes to help with that fact.

Did a 100% yesterday....

Just now I did a 30-40% and put new filters in since it was already starting to read high. :irked:

I think the tank is too small for them and my filters suck, we r moving in 2 wks so I will be looking into getting a larger tank for them and some super duper filtering :naughty:
