So, I swung by the pet store to pick up some Eco Earth for my firebelly toads, and I see a red devil that has been pretty severely beaten up. I left, unable to find my dirt, and thought about that fish all day. So, ignoring my sensible part of the brain, I went back and picked up the poor fish. I figure I'll mend his fins, and if I need to I can take him to a more responsible pet store.
Well, I know next to nothing about red devils. I know it all varies according to fish personality, but once he gets on the mend some, would he be ok to go in a 75 gallon with a midas, flowerhorn, two blood parrots, and two convicts? The midas and flowerhorn are both young (3 - 4 inches long), and none of the fish in there show any signs of aggression at all. Is it likely this red devil would be mean to them, or is it worth a shot before taking him to the [better] pet store?
Btw, I know that 75 will be overstocked when they're full grown, and that's a bridge I'll take care of when they get there. Right now they're happy, so I'm happy. :)

honestly this is a disaster in the making pretty soon there will omly be one fish left in that 75.... and no i would not add the red devil.....

Its called a devil for a reason.

Sooner or later it will be all out war in your tank.

You will have three potentially aggressive fish in your 75, maybe five if your two Convicts are a breeding pair. You have a high chance of someone snapping overnight and hurting or even killing one or more tankmates. You say that you will deal with the overstocking issue once the fish grow too large to be housed together in the 75. Honestly, that will not be long. RDs and Midas both grow very quickly and generally so does their aggression especially in tight spaces. If you are keeping up with water changes and feeding quality food, you can expect the RD and Midas to be twice as large in 3-4 months. Even if they all live together peacefully, their sizes in a few months will be a problem. It's a gamble keeping them all together in this size tank for too long...IMO.

That's what I was thinking. I'll just heal up the red devil and take him to a different pet store for them to sell then. The flowerhorn I plan on moving out once his new tank gets cycled out. The convicts are both women, so not a breeding pair. Do y'all think the midas will be a problem one day?

midas are highly aggresive it will eventually need that 75 to itself unless you want dead fish.....

Women Convicts? Sounds like a reality show!

If it's just the Midas and the Convicts, I think it could work for a while. Just make sure that the Cons have areas to retreat to just in case the Midas goes after them. This is no guarantee though. It depends how aggressive your Midas turns out to be. You still may have to end up getting a larger tank down the line. I don't see my Midas/RD living in his 75 for life and he's in there alone. He's just getting extremely big very fast.

Ok, thanks for the comments all. :) The midas actually cuddles up with the convicts at night, so I think they'll all be ok for awhile at least. And yes, my convicts would make an awesome reality show!

Aside from the issue of size, you just never know with cichlids. All can be fine for awhile.... then, snap.... dead fish. I had a jewel that absolutely terrorized every fish in my tank including the Jd in my avatar. They were about the same size when I pulled the jewel out the first time. The second time I pulled the jewel out the Jd was a little bigger but the jewel was still wrecking havoc. I put the jewel in it's own tank for a month and then reintroduced. Within about 5 minutes my Jd had torn the jewels left eye out and before I could go downstairs to grab the net, my Jd had literally gutted the jewel. The jack had evidently had enough....
