No one can gurantee that it will not work. I would get the fish bring him thru his tough time and see what happens. You will also feel good about what you have done.

Ill guarantee it wont work...in the best interest of the fish.

In a 75 gallon with an RD (12+"), midas (12+"), flowerhorn (12+"), two blood parrots (6+"? dunno how big they get), and two convicts (3+")?

That tank is bare minimum for 1 of those 12+ers alone.

Why would you even suggest for someone , who ADMITTEDLY has never kept RDs before, to even try it. You must have never kept them either...

Were here to help others keep their fish alive and healthy, not suggest cage matches or complete headaches for new members.

Not seeing this having a happy ending.

It is a happy ending. I ended up taking the flowerhorn, midas, and the red devil to my LFS and gave them to them to sell. I checked up on them several days later, and the flowerhorn is completely healed up, the red devil is on his way, and all three are happy. A friend of mine is going up to eye the flowerhorn today, and is likely going home with him. So, I got the fish saved, my tank is happy, and alls well that ends well. I'm hoping someone buys the midas and the red devil together, as they've actually become good friends.
