I'm torn. On one hand I want to go save the fish but on the other I feel it encourages the behavior. Its the same for places like walmart and their fish. I want to help the fish individually but dont want to encourage them selling the fish. What do you guys think about it? :(

call him and let him know you'll take them for free because you don't want to encourage animal abuse and perhaps losing money will teach him a lesson.
probably won't go for it, and will probably say something rude, but if you can get him to take your number, at least they'll have a chance when he realizes he probably won't be able to sell it.
of course there's always someone stupid enough to buy anything.

That's sickening. This is the reason why I firmly believe that fish store employees need to ask more questions before selling monster fish. I understand it's a business and they need to make money, but these are living creatures.

My LFS just got an order of 10 arrowanas in and within 24 hours, they were all gone. This happens every time they order them. What are the chances that they are all going to a proper home?
The aquatic community in my area is very small yet the stores around here sell tons of monster fish. For example, I know of someone who had a tiger shovelnose and a florida gar in a 20 gallon...

I say "had" because they died...

This is where I get stuck. I am stuck on what I would do with a RTC, I have seen so many nice ones at public aquariums that are 4 feet long. I would take the pacu and pleco back to Petsmart on a busy Saturday and insist the manager take them back because "I was told they wouldn't get that big." I know it's kind of mean, but I'm tired of seeing this kind of thing happen.

I know everyone bashes Walmart by I worked in the pet department a few years ago and I wouldn't let people buy anything they didn't have the space for. We sold oscars and pacus and I wouldn't sell them unless they had atleast a 75 gallon and I told the people I sold pacus they needed one bigger after a few months and most people wouldn't be ignorant and buy them

^ Sad thing is on here we've also heard of people who worked at one of these chain stores do what you did, and the manager of said branch basically fired the guy coz he was losing money for the company... so yes, i know with every chain store there will be bad and good stuff... but the problem as i see it is, way too many bad staff in comparison to good knowledgeable staff...

Although i guess at the end of the day, its really up to the keepers to do at least try and do their homework so they know what they are getting into as well...

I'm not saying that there arent good, caring people working at some of those places but overall the care for the fish at the walmarts I have been in is substandard on good days, just plain cruel on most.

Yeah it does kind of look like a 29 in the one shot.
