yeah they get about 12" but it takes serrasalmus piranhas years to get that big, like 3 years to get 6+ then probably 10 years to reach 12" if Brandtii's grow like rhoms...

ya... please show us any proof of a 12 inch brandtii...

put the brandtii in the 75 if you can get a hold of it. very hard species to find for sale, make sure when you do purchase it, that you get a s. brandtii and not a p. dent.

yeah I was going off one site that said they got up to 12" but OPEFE says 21cm.

I've never kept brandtii, you should talk to cepo. His is active and mean. I would imagine though that even the most active piranha has less activity than a guapote.

AM I TOO LATE?

Maybe im a tad biast and im going to have to say brandtii..

Brandtii can a will get up to 12" although i am not 100% sure on what the max size in captivity is, but i will keep you guys updated.

What do you meen by active.. My fish is not at all active, unless your right up next to the tank.. then he will attempt to chase you away through the glass.. but from accross the room he just hangs out inside his pot.

My fish is in a 40 brdr, moved from a 75 because of his inactivity, and since the move has shown much more interaction. Mybe just because he finally acclimated and started to show his true colors or maybe because his territory now extends beyond the glass walls of his tank..

I love my brandtii.. he is my baby and my unicorn (dont take that the wrong way) and i would reccomend them to other people.

Dont be suprised if they are shy when you first get them alot of the brandtii keepers i have conversed with have told stories of 8+ months of innactivity and mine was no different, but seemingly overnight they will become absolute mass murderers..

You can almost count on any parachromis to be a glass banger and highly interactive, will grow quicker and will take more redily available food. and will generally get larger.

You must outweigh the good and the bad with owning any type of piranha, and you may very well be let down after such a long wait. it is a roll of the dice when it comes to piranha aggressiveness but if things work out the way you plan, having that fish will be much more rewarding then just and ordinary cichlid..

hope that helps, but i had to be honest..

bad thing to say in this forum but I dont care for piranha that much so Id go for the parachromis but its really up to you in the end
