This is my elongatus piranha who I just got on July 5, 2011 and at that time is was about 3.5 inches long. In this video you will see some new growth to about 4.5 inches due to power feeding of live black worms, red wigglers, blood worms, fresh fillets, and raw shrimp. Gore loves his new 55gal tank that includes one 70 powerhead, one sump pump, and one Fluval U3 series.

you got it July 5 2011 (yesterday) at 3.5" and today its 4.5" already???
 
That information is correct they are known to grow fast when there young until about 6-7in. then the elongatus growth rate slows down considerable unless you monitor your fish in particularly and feed when he's ready I know Gore eats 6-8 hours a day. Stay tuned and check out another video posted of him being power feed fresh chunks of filet tilapia will be posted in a matter of minutes
 
I'm not sure where you got your information from but serrasalmus doesn't grow that fast, even pygocentrus doesn't grow that fast, in fact, I don't think I know any fish from the amazon that grows one inch a day, not even gigas. 1" a month is a more realistic fast growth rate for average juvi serrasalmus.
if you got it June 5th 2011 then yea but you said you got it July 5th, 2011 and it grew 1" over night that's just impossible. one of your measurement is off.
 
Listen what you see posted is factual. What I can say about the serrasalmus elongatus is that he was skinny not much girth when i did receive him and was like i said before 3.5 inches a day of being feed he had growth and girth the next day point blank ,your theories are fictional until proven fact other than that if you don't have any good advice to give "Bug Off" if you understand what I'm saying all respect to MFK.
 
did you burn one down before or after measuring? No way in hell that little Elong grew 1 inch overnight. Also, insulting one of the most knowledgeable Piranha experts on this forum will not win you any points dude.
