Serrasalmus Maculatus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
When you do a serra shoal Imo you should have a much larger tank with alot of cover, i'd say 6ft tank would be perfect with cover and a powerhead rated for that amount of gallons:naughty:

yea, but the vendor sent me these in replace for the redbellies he didn't have, so i did my research and figured i could keep them in the 75 gallon until my 125 frees up.

with mac, it's a hit or miss, some people got lucky some end up with just one fish. did lower the temperature help?

so far yes, the wounds have healed up and no more have shown up so all is good right now. thanks for the help.

so here is a couple pics after the fact, took these today and took pics of the tank mates, and in the pic of the pleco, you can see why i had to remove the undergravel filter, and i removed all the substrate period, i plan on doing sand when i up the filtration.

there are two pink cons in the tank as well, both look exactly alike, they give the piranhas something to do. i did a 75% water change and got all the gravel out of the tank, i will need to do a second water change in a couple days to get all the soot out, but for now they look happy and im happy.

all these pics were taken with my phone, so sorry about the quality.

are they maculatus, all of them have the purple sheen with a nice bright gold, and solid colors. i love these fish to death, and the little speckling/glitter looking stuff is getting more and more.

nobody?

Although gold isn't a word I'd use to describe my Mac - yellow belly would be. From the looks of the large terminal band (last band on the tail) I'd guess Mac not Spiilo however the coloration from your cell is very dark for me to say positively anything.

cell?

oh yea lol sorry, i have been a blonde all morning. yea, i will try to get better pics when the tank clears up.
