Recently purchased one of these lovely specimens I believe it's the most stunning piranha in the species falling only behind the Serrasalmus Manueli, does anyone have any experience or information on the Spilo as there is very limited information out there on them.IMG_20240118_214725.jpg

Welcome to the forum! I don’t have experience with these guys, but I can’t imagine care wouldn’t be too far off from other piranhas out there.
It will probably cap at about 12 inches and would eat anything.

Thanks for the warm welcome and information, much appreciated here is some more photos absolutely wonderful fish having had red bellys and Cariba previously this was an extremely rare and expensive find here in Scotland, this is by far the most aggressive piranh I have ever kept and blows any SA Cichlid ive kept either out of Red Devils, Jack's etc, I have a Male Salvini currently also who doesn't come close to this little demon.

Spilos are a load of fun. Soak its food in some vitachem or get some krill and watch the colors really pop

I have a Golden Maculatus, which from what I read is extremely similar to the spilo. Echoing the above about clean water and varied diet seems to work well. I feed shrimp, krill and catfish mainly. All soaked in vitachem
