Use anubius, crypts, java fern some small driftwood branches and pothos hanging out the sides. The whole thing can be filtered with a sponge filter, box filter or and AC30, 50 you don't need much. For ferts some Flourish and Excel doesn't take too much.

Ok, ok, I'm following you....I have the Eheim whatever it is...has the heating element in the bottom....probably overkill....snails, otos.... (I totally forgot I liked those little guys)...I have a clown pleco right now in the 180 that I RARELY see.....how bout him?

Clown plecos are cool I have one I never see too. That will work in the tank.

Plecos can kill snails, I found this out in a planted tank. They were trapdoor snails though, and the pleco was bristlenose.

How are shrimp with plecos? They don't sneek up at night and eat their eyes out do they?
You really have given me a very good idea and direction to go in...I will follow your recommendations to the letter. I went to get some sand last night because all I have is #12 silver river sand....I would like a little drama and was thinking fine tan or white?
Black sand was my first inclination, but black with the black back, black frame, black stand......

I like a light substrate. Clown plecos need some driftwood to rasp on they are plant and invert safe IME. Shrimp will not bother them. Interesting thing about ghost shrimp is they will color up one they are comfortable in the tank, I like them and they are cheep first shrimp to try. Get a bunch of them they are very cool little guys.

Stay away from apple and ramshorn snails, stick to nerite species.
