mine has red tips just how there teeth look and she never gets goldfish (couldn't fit them in her mouth really) but they do have a good set of chompers

but for a year old it should be a little bigger then that but they do grow slow just wait they don't get thick teeth till there adults a male jack dempsy could double that size and the teeth will to

yes it is common for them to get teeth, my 7-8inch female has teeth and they also have red tips, i have always wondered why they have that

Yes there growth rate is slow after the first 6 mths.My 6.5" jd has teeth similar to my Moto
