set up for breeding rbp's

From what I think I know, they leave the fry to fend for themselves.

In the wild, the fry hang around the roots of floating plants (such as water lettuce) for security against predators. As they grow into mini looking piranhas, they will shoal with other non-piranha but look-alike fish (such a silver dollars and pacus). This way, they get the security in numbers, but have a food source (just fins and scales at this stage) living along side them.

Thought I would share that little information I have.

no i had no camera @ the time. ive got one ready 4 next time though. they didnt lay any eggs, is this normal. and they dont get extreamly dark just a little darker than normal with no red showing.

It is common for captive piranhas not to lay eggs in the ritual for many initial times.
But it is a good sign.

An idea that pops to my head is inexperienced partners. Although it is becoming obvious that they are showing breeding colour, the lack of extremely dark colour may mean this is one of their first times.

My guess would be this is one of their first attempts, and as they 'practice' their dark colour will get darker, and you will end up with eggs.

You got a tank set up for the eggs should you be very lucky?

no they werent just fighting the 2 breeders were swimming in tight circles side by side, would not let any of the others come even close to them or one of them would swim over and attack them. They are alway in this one spot nesting(tearing up plants and pilling them up).
